Four large Enkhuizen seed companies will be kicking off a new year of sport with an indoor football tournament. The tournament is an initiative by the staff associations of Enza Zaden, Syngenta Seeds, Incotec and Monsanto.
For the first time in the long history of the West Frisian seed sector, eight five-a-side football teams will compete for the Seed Valley Futsal Cup. “Futsal” is the international term for indoor football, a contraction of the Spanish words “futbol” (football) and “sala” (hall).
The tournament will be played at De Kloet sports hall in Grootebroek on Saturday 8 January. The kickoff is at 1:00 PM and the challenge cup will be presented at around 5:00 PM.
The Seed Valley Futsal Cup 2011 is a pilot. If there is enough interest, the tournament will be thrown open to staff of all the seed companies in the region next year. There are approximately 3000 people employed in this growing industry in West-Friesland.
