East-West Seed ranked 28th in Fortune Change the World list
East-West Seed is ranked on the 28th place in the Fortune Change the World list of 2020. “Doing well by doing good”: under this motto 53 for-profit companies were selected for the 2020 list. The companies in the list make a great social impact or have a positive impact on the environment, by using profitable strategies. East-West Seed is making their impact in the public health/nutrition segment.
East-West Seed has helped nearly 20 million small farmers in Southeast Asia since 1982 by supplying high-quality seeds. The company also supports farmers in Africa and South America. In addition to supplying high-quality seed, the farmers are trained as well. The East-West knowledge transfer trains approximately 100,000 farmers annually in knowledge about production and cultivation. This way they can increase their yields.
