More than 100 years ago, Holland-Select spotted an opportunity in a specialised market: the breeding of legumes and fine vegetables. Based in Andijk, the company develops high-quality varieties such as bush beans, runner beans, peas, the world-famous ‘Amsterdam’ bunch carrots and the forgotten gem salsify. A niche, perhaps. But one in which Holland-Select sets the standard worldwide. The varieties developed here end up on the menus of Michelin-starred restaurants, in the freezers of the world’s largest frozen food and canned vegetable brands, and on the fresh market, where flavour and uniformity are everything.
