What is CEO for a Day?
CEO for a Day is a national initiative, organised in collaboration with HortiHeroes, Seed Valley, Greenport Aalsmeer, Fruit Tech Campus and Greenport Duin- en Bollenstreek. It offers students the opportunity to take over the role of CEO for one day at a leading company in the horticultural and agri-food sector.
You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at companies that help feed the world and discover how plant breeding and innovation are shaping the future of agriculture and food production. Not only is it an incredible learning experience, but your ideas could actually make a real impact.
Who is it for?
The programme is designed for curious students who want to test their leadership skills and contribute to a more sustainable future. Whether you're studying agricultural sciences, business, engineering or simply have an interest in the future of food production, CEO for a Day is the perfect opportunity to discover what the seed sector has to offer.
How does it work?
You can apply via the HortiHeroes website. Tell us why you'd like to be CEO for a Day and what you have to offer. If you're selected, you'll be matched with one of the participating companies. You'll gain first-hand insight into the business and learn what it takes to lead a company in this innovative sector.
On the day itself, you'll get to work! You'll tour the company, join management discussions and contribute ideas on important strategic decisions.
CEO for a Day – Previous editions
In 2024, the following Seed Valley CEOs participated in CEO for a Day: Rick van Zoeren (Bayer), Berend van Iterson (Dekker Chrysanten), Han Botterhuis (Incotec), Jan-Willem Griep (Syngenta), Marc Driessen (Beekenkamp Plants), Hein Bemelmans en Andreas Sewing (Enza Zaden). They opened their doors to students interested in exploring a career in the seed sector.
