Digital twins in plant breeding

Phenotyping plants is a time-consuming process that requires many hours of work. At Wageningen University & Research, new technologies are being developed to make this part of plant research more efficient.

What if we could do more than just monitor a plant’s phenotype? What if we could grow plants virtually? Digital plant models make it possible to predict how plants will grow under different environmental conditions, helping researchers accelerate innovation in plant breeding.
