Launching our future strategy: “Building the future together, with purpose”
We have launched our future strategy for the next five years under the title “Building the future together, with purpose.” During an inspiring event at Vonk in Hoorn, we presented our vision, placing innovation, talent development, and collaboration at the heart of our ambition to make the sector stronger, more sustainable, and future-proof.
Vision and mission as our guiding principles
We strive for a world where healthy food and a colourful environment, created through seeds and plants, are accessible to everyone. As a key driving force behind our economy and sustainable health, Seed Valley offers future perspectives by giving talent access to impactful careers. In doing so, they can actively contribute to creating a healthier and more colourful world.
This vision forms the foundation of our future strategy and provides direction for our ambitions in the years ahead.
More focus through new programme lines
At the core of the new strategy are three programme lines that strengthen the sector by bringing development, collaboration, and impact together:
Spark & Create
Focuses on inspiring new talent and increasing awareness of the sector. Through events, creative campaigns, and engaging content, people will discover the impact and opportunities the sector has to offer.
Experience & Skills
Provides talent with concrete opportunities to develop through internships, learning opportunities, and hands-on experience. By strengthening collaboration with educational institutions, Seed Valley aims to create a bridge between learning and working.
Connect & Collaborate
Encourages collaboration between companies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders — the foundation of Seed Valley’s success. This programme line strengthens engagement and activates partners as ambassadors for the sector.
Collaboration with education and flexible ways of working
We see educational institutions as important partners in reaching young talent. With more than 400 vacancies and internships available each year, we offer many opportunities both regionally and (inter)nationally.
In addition, we are introducing new ways of working, such as project groups made up of members with different areas of expertise, to increase flexibility and engagement.
“This makes Seed Valley not only dynamic, but also attractive to new generations,” says board member Allison Thomas.
Innovation in a changing world
The future strategy highlights that innovation and sustainability are the backbone of Seed Valley. Developing disease-resistant crops, solutions for climate change, and technologies for more sustainable food production are just a few examples.
“Challenges such as climate change require continuous innovation,” says Jeroen de Haas, chair of the board. “To achieve this, we need talent from different disciplines, including ICT and supply chain, which are also important links in our growth.”
Focus on the next generation: “Plant the future”
With the message “Plant the future”, we emphasise connecting with the next generation of talent. We want to inspire students, graduates, and career changers with the many meaningful career opportunities the seed sector has to offer.
“It is essential that these groups know who we are, what we do, and how they can find us,” explains programme manager Delia Bakker. “At Seed Valley, you can truly make a difference for a sustainable and colourful world.”
Ready for the future
With this future strategy, we continue building a resilient and forward-looking organisation. This enables us not only to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow but also to create lasting impact for a sustainable and healthy world.
