Plant Rover VERY DISCO

Seed Valley encourages secondary school students in pre-university education (HAVO and VWO) to explore the exciting combination of biology and technology. Schools are full of enthusiasm and great ideas, but experiments can be limited by a lack of space, lighting, or suitable facilities.

The Plant Rover VERY DISCO was developed to bring plant experiments into the classroom. This mobile growth chamber allows plants to be cultivated under LED lighting, making it possible to carry out experiments in a biology classroom, a makerspace, or anywhere with access to a power outlet. Students can document their experiments using a smartphone or GoPro camera.

The Plant Rover is mounted on swivel wheels and measures 140 cm wide, 60 cm deep, and 190 cm high. Depending on the experiment, different LED light combinations can be installed, including red, blue, far-red, and white light. Built-in timers allow users to simulate day and night cycles.

Schools in the North Holland region can reserve one or two Plant Rovers free of charge for a period of 8 to 10 weeks. The unit is delivered, assembled on site by appointment, and collected after the project has ended. Plant material (such as cabbage, lettuce, pepper, or chrysanthemum) or seeds can also be provided.

Today's students are discovering that Steve Jobs was right. The economy, society, and job market of the future will increasingly revolve around the intersection of biology and technology. A school research project is the perfect opportunity to explore these challenges firsthand.
